First and foremost i’m a huge Patta fan so for me to be able to see the ins and outs of how it is they work their well established brand is like gold to me. Take a look of a preview of their “Get Familiar” documentary. I’m one that certainly can’t wait to see the full length of this film.

The lovely Amsterdam clothing brand Patta released a very well put together a/w 2013 collection a while ago that I keep looking back at wishing I had a piece. Not only is my man Vincent van de Waal one of my favorite designers, the creative direction they used for a women editorial was great. Only because I think that having women pose and shoot for Mens Apparel has now gotten a little to cheesy for my likings. We all know having a cute, decent looking girl will get more views than a typical guy so hey why not add that to my “business” like tactic. But as oppose to that, Patta was very clear in their website they didn’t use it in order to get more “views” a lot of Netherlands girls do really incorporate Patta pieces into their daily wardrobe so they say. What they did was give the women a barbie like style. While you scroll through the pictures you might think you’re in tumblr for a second of how the feel of the pictures are. The way the women were styled was better than throwing on a snapback or a beanie on the girls. That itself is just another cheesy add that people have being using. Another brand that incorporated a women for an editorial as well was the Los Angeles based Rare Panther. For their halloween release, they used a girl to model the shirt and in a photo of it was in an environment in which the girl seems to be unaware of her surroundings and two “non” creatures are approaching her. Another photo in which she is standing in front of semi and there are bodies on the ground wrapped around a white sheet full of blood. The use of girls for mens streetwear apparel has been used for different tactics but my favorite is to embody the fact that girls really do purchase and use the brand as oppose to just wearing it for a lookbook. Also as Rare Panther did it for the simple reason of being creative.

Pictures below explain what it is I was just talking about. Both Patta & Rare Panther links are below pictures.

Utilize women models properly. Enjoy.
